Reality Hits the Lake Shore—Hard
“Do you think you have what it takes? Got the guts? Got the fresh attitude? Got that hot style?”
Translation: Ever wish you could pop your collar and spray yourself with orange paint and whoop it up Jersey Shore-style, but there just aren’t enough cameras following you around in Toronto?
Well, kids, your dreams are about to come true. Check out this sweet press release that wandered my way:
“What happens when eight vibrant and volatile twenty-something Torontonians from different backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations shack up? Producer Maryam Rahimi of Sunrise Multimedia and director George Tsioutsioulas (The Story of Furious Pete) want to find out in their new reality TV show Lake Shore. Known for its diversity and inclusiveness, Toronto is the backdrop for this show set to add a new dimension to reality television. Never before have such diverse backgrounds gone head to head, and the results will unveil how inclusive Torontonians really are.”
The premise of the show wasn’t originally as diverse, however. “Initially the show was going to focus on a group of hipsters of Persian descent, but after a lot of thought, George Tsioutsioulas and I thought it would be much more riveting to explore how eight extremely diverse twenty-something Torontonians co-habitat[e],” said Maryam Rahimi of Sunrise Multimedia. “We are looking forward to seeing all the characters that come out for the auditions!”
The panel of judges is star-studded, indeed. Check it, yo: filmmaker George Tsioutsioulas; Samantha Tajik, Miss Universe Canada 2008; comedian Manolis; Tony Monaco, Z103 DJ and radio personality; Mariana Valente, Miss Universe Canada 2009; and club promoter Keith “Kid Rock” Correa. Don’t you want any (or all) of these people to tell you whether or not you “have what it takes”? You know you do.
So if you’ve heard of any of the above-named people (watching George years ago on OMNI TV’s promo blurbs doesn’t count) and/or have the requisite fresh attitude/hot style, get your orange ass down to Frequency Nightclub (296 Richmond Street West, Toronto) between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on July 16 and 17, 2010. For more information, check out the Lake Shore website or, for super lulz, find out who your competition will be on their Facebook event page. Oh, and here’s a little taste of the sexy for the lay-deez below:
